A New Quirky, Funny, Irrelevant Podcast
Abnormally Funny People Podcast came into being because there was a real gap in the market for disabled people to be able to take part in a chat show that raised and discussed real issues – but using humour and that didn’t shy away from what can be controversial subjects.
On Abnormally Funny People Podcast Steve Best and Simon Minty have guests who talk about their month and their experiences.
This is first and foremost comedy. The aim of course is to have lots of disabled people listen to it, whilst being accessible to everybody so that people think, You know what? This is a different, quirky thing. The podcast is one more entry point for more disabled actors and comedians to be heard in mainstream entertainment.
The podcast also has a regular product review feature, which takes a tongue in cheek look at some products that are out there.
The guests this week are comedian Laurence Clark and Jess Thom from Tourette’s Hero
They chat about doing impressions of disabled people, breaking an egg when you have random motion control, cycling on a child’s tricycle when you’re in your forties and why dignity can be overrated.
The cast review two products, a humane spider catcher and egg cracker.
The also talk about how it feels to be left out if you’re the one who isn’t disabled and the difference between waving and drowning.
At the end the discussion delves a little deeper when Jess talks about the going to the theatre and the rest of the audience don’t know how to relax.
A warning, this show has some swearing.
The Abnormally Funny People Podcast is kindly sponsored by Barclays and supported by Really Useful Stuff – supplying the products for a lighted hearted review
