The Games are nearly here!
I have now attended the last cycling camp at Tedworth House and have been getting the last rides in before packing my kit and heading down to London on the 7th September for the Invictus Games.
The last few weeks have been spent trying to improve my speed on the bike rather than distance in line with the type of race I will be competing in.
We now know the format for the race.
This will be a 1-lap time trial and then a 1 hour race. My intentions are for best effort to get our fastest guy across the line first.
It’s going to be pretty hectic on the track with another 11 nations competing. It could be twice as many people on the track as I encountered at the Para cycling race I entered! I may need eyes in the back of my head to stay safe and keep on the bike.
I have also been chosen to represent the British Armed Forces team in the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge taking place on the 9th September.
This event is where the first Gold of the games will be won! I will be doing my best to get over the line in front. Coverage of the games is to be on BBC2. So I expect you all to be cheering me on !
And of course Military Mountain Bikes is still moving forward
Once the games finish we have our first work placement starting at Military Mountain Bikers. Must admit it has been a while since I have been out on the trails so looking forward to pushing myself up in the hills.
and I have a new FaceBook Page so you can keep up to date with the Games
and follow the games on Twitter on #IAM
