The Team doubles at Military Mountain Bikers!
Meeting Prince Harry at the team selection was great, as was meeting my fellow Invictus team competitors. After the exciting selection news last week its now hard work training for the big day on Saturday 13th September at Velo Park.
Training this week has been tough as I have pushed myself to get fitter and faster, (which seems impossible given I have already hit my personal best for the team selection). However determined not to let my team down and I am pounding those hills on my bike.
Whilst I am hard at it training on the local roadways, Military Mountain Bikers continues to make progress.
Gregg Stevenson has recently joined the ‘MMB’ team as Facilities Coordinator so we are 50% bigger! Gregg was injured on a tour of Afghanistan and medically discharged and has fitted right in with the vision and values of MMB.
As Facilities Coordinator, Gregg will be busy organising events and keeping on top of things at Stubbylee Park.
After six years in the Royal Engineers Gregg will be adding some military precision into the running of MMB and keeping me in check. He is already getting to grips with Social Media and sorting our Facebook and Twitter accounts so you can follow us daily as we train and prepare for the games.
Gregg said “I am really looking forward to working at ‘MMB’ and developing my skills to become a good team member. I have recently started riding again and have opened a door I thought was shut. I am in the exciting phase of sorting my prosthetic and ensuring I get set up to the bike correctly (which the geeky engineer in me loves). I have also been out on our purpose built hand bike and it is awesome! I have really missed that sensation of downhill fun!”
