New chair moving system

Millie mover

This simple chair moving device makes mealtimes safer and easier when moving people to and from the meal table.

Over one thousand customers have experienced how the millie-mova chair moving system for disabled and elderly people improves the day to day working lives for carers and family members.

Unlike other possible solutions to the problem of moving elderly or disabled people whilst safely seated, the chair fitted with a millie-mova retains high stability when unoccupied. This means that a person unsteady on their feet can lean on the chair and it does not “scoot” away from them. This could lead to a fall, with dire consequences. The braking system is AUTOMATIC.

Why should I use it?

It will protect the carer from injury. It will make mealtimes far less of a chore. The seated person will enjoy a far more dignified mealtime. The chair and floor will last much longer.

How does it work?

It is a simple lever with wheels. On pressing the pedal it lifts the front chair legs off the ground and onto the wheels. Combined with the rear wheels this makes it much easier to move the occupied chair forwards or backwards. Simply point the chair where you want it to go, press the lever and move. Do not move more than your stride allows – make two or three shorter runs, if necessary.

Is it safe?

The device is suitable for clients up to 130kg. It is fail-safe, in that if it broke mechanically (very unlikely) the chair would return to normal. Unlike some devices purporting to solve this problem it does not make the chair too easy to move – an obvious potential hazard with people that are unsteady on their feet. The kit provides extra stability for the front legs as it contains two high-friction rubber discs for the bottom of the front legs. Ferrules are required for metal leg chairs to provide the same stability.

How do I know if it will fit my chair(s)?

The millie-mova system will fit most chairs. If it does not fit, then return the millie-mova system and we will refund your money. The only significant issue that could make it unsuitable is if the chair has a very low crossbar (below 3 inches from the floor).

It will fit even if your chair legs are round, not vertical, metal or plastic.

Can Jenry Ltd fit them?

Can I fit it to “ski” chairs?

Beverly Elliott, Abbeyfield Winchester, 2014

I stumbled upon this small business by chance when looking for a chair that I could buy for an elderly resident with mobility difficulties. Rather than buying a new expensive chair this gadget enables current chairs to be adapted meaning that my resident is able to join others at meal times and her chair looks the same as everyone else’s. Having seen the demonstration I was absolutely bowled over at what a simple yet effective idea this was. In fact when my own father’s mobility was affected and my mother had difficulty getting him close enough to the meal table. I immediately knew the answer and so I bought a Millie-Mova system for his chair. This gadget means that the carer does not harm themselves and the chair is not damaged either. Often the simplest ideas are the best and this is one of those occasions’
